John B. Casserly represents physicians, hospitals, and other medical providers in the courts of Minnesota and Wisconsin. He has extensive experience in trial courts, appellate courts and before licensing boards, and was recently recognized as a "Rising Star" in the Minnesota Journal of Law and Politics.
Before joining Geraghty, O'Loughlin & Kenney Mr. Casserly was a violent crimes prosecutor in Hennepin County, Minnesota where he tried many jury trials to verdict, including homicide, sexual assault and armed robbery cases. Before becoming a prosecutor, Mr. Casserly represented Hennepin County's medical menter and health maintenance organization in the state and federal courts of Minnesota.
Mr. Casserly also served for seven years as a Commissioner of the Minneapolis Commission on Civil Rights, and he chaired that commission's lawyers' committee. As Civil Rights Commissioner, Mr. Casserly presided over trials, mediations, and motion practice for civil rights claims brought under that city's civil rights ordinance.
Born in Minneapolis in 1966, Mr. Casserly graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1989, and the University of Wisconsin School of Law in 1996. He is a member of the Ramsey County, Hennepin County, Minnesota and American Bar Associations, the Minnesota Defense Lawyers Association (MDLA) and the Defense Research Institute.
